About

Eric Moody has had a lifelong passion for the game of football and played at the collegiate level at Nicholls State University for a few seasons as an offensive lineman. Professionally he has spent most of his career in the financial services industry working for three Fortune 100 companies in various advice and management roles. Two responsibilities Eric has always enjoyed have been conducting research and helping others.Twitter’s platform allowed Eric to find his voice. He began tweeting out various statistics and opinions on players. This led to writing opportunities with Gridiron Experts and the now dormant Fantasy Football Locker Room. Eric has written over 500 articles for ESPN, Pro Football Network, The Athletic, 4for4 Football, RotoViz, FantasyPros, Dynasty League Football, FantasyData.Eric has a practical knowledge of football from my playing days and evaluation insight from my experience at Dan Hatman’s Scouting Academy. His financial services background has allowed him to learn a disciplined, research process and experience presenting complex strategies in an easy to understand manner. Eric has applied all that professional experience to his work as a fantasy football analyst. The most rewarding aspect for him of being an analyst is using all these statistical resources to open someone’s eyes to a certain player, team, or strategy that helps them be more successful. It’s easy to get overwhelmed with the sheer number of advanced metrics available out there. Fantasy football in essence is a game of numbers. The goal is to assemble a team and outscore your opponent whether you’re participating in redraft, dynasty, or DFS (Daily Fantasy Sports). NFL box scores tell you one story, but advanced metrics tell another. These metrics condense a large volume of data from numerous sources into advanced statistics that are easy to understand. It helps you better comprehend, compare, and appreciate the performance of your favorite players and teams. These metrics provide you with more unbiased answers to many questions that may be swirling in your head. Which quarterback will lead the NFL in passing yards? Which wide receiver will lead the league in receiving yards? Who is the most productive running back in rushing yards per game? There are two types of metrics out there. The first one is volume-based metrics. Pass attempts, rushing attempts, rushing yards, targets, receptions, receiving yards, air yards, and touchdowns fall into this category. The second one is efficiency metrics. Completion percentage, yards per carry, yards per target, yards per reception, and catch rate fall into this category. Volume-based metrics are more predictive than any efficiency metrics, while per game statistics represent a player’s average performance and have the strongest season to season correlation. Volume statistics fluctuate based on the number of games a player is ruled out.Have you ever had a league mate or another football fan blabber an emotional opinion of a team or player without any evidence? Advanced metrics offer you a more rational and logical lens to better comprehend the NFL.Think of Eric as your Fantasy Football Advisor. The Jiminy Cricket to your Pinocchio. A witty and wise partner who will accompany you with pop culture references on your journey to fantasy football domination. A partner who will act as your conscience in making wise decisions. My objective is to make these metrics less intimidating, increase your fantasy football IQ, keep you two steps ahead of your competition, and provide you actionable advice all year long.Eric enjoys spending time with his lovely wife Trina, two children Noah and Haley, and a Golden Retriever named Bella. When Eric is not writing about fantasy football you will find him drinking coffee (Dark roast), watching movies (Action, Adventure, and Dramas are my favorite genres) listening to music (Hard rock and heavy metal), or playing bass guitar.
